Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and S2 Plus

After receiving plethora of compliments for Samsung Galaxy S3, the Korean tech giant is now rumored to be working on a mini version of the most popular smartphone of the world. At the same time, Samsung is also speculated to be prepping variant of Galaxy S2 – which is Galaxy S2 Plus – as a step to take on the iPhone 4S, which is believed to get a price drop after iPhone 5 is released.

According to Sam Mobile reports, these two devices are scheduled to hit in late 2012, however, the report is still a rumor as Samsung has not revealed any information about the devices as a proof of their existence.

Rumored Specifications
The Galaxy S3 Mini is expected to sport a 4 inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, a dual core processor and 5 MP camera. On the other hand, when it comes to the rumored specifications of the Galaxy S2 Plus, there are no details revealed yet.
However, a report by TheDroidGuy states, “If it is going to be an improved version of the Galaxy S2, then it is likely that the Galaxy S2 Plus will feature a 4.5 inch AMOLED screen, an 8 megapixel camera, a 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory. The phone may come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or better still, Android Jelly Bean.”
The above mentioned specifications make some sense as the Galaxy S2 Plus is rumored to be $100 (approx. Rs 5,500) to $150 (approx. Rs 8,000) more than the Galaxy S3 Mini.
Price & Availability
Galaxy S3 Mini is likely to be priced at $200 (approx. Rs 11,000) while the Galaxy S2 Plus will be priced between $250 to $350 (approx. Rs 14,000 to Rs 20,000).
Analysts assume that the Galaxy S3 Mini and Galaxy S2 Plus smartphones will be released into the market in the last quarter of 2012, before the holiday season, as an attempt to boost its sales.
However, this is only a rumor and there is no evidence that the Korean manufacturer is prepping these two smartphones. Moreover, Samsung is quite busy in marketing the Galaxy Note 2 tablet, which is slotted to be unveiled at the pre-IFA event on August 29,2012 in Berlin.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini officially

Rumors of a smaller version of the Galaxy S3 have been floating around for a while now.
Recently, Samsung officially confirmed the Galaxy S3 Mini existed, but they were short on the details. All we knew for sure was that the new smartphone had just a 4-inch screen. At today’s press event, Samsung let the rest of the details out of the bag.
Here are the specs – as far as we know them – for the newest member of the Galaxy family:
    * A dual-core 1GHz processor
    * an 800 x 400 super AMOLED display
    * VGA front cam, 5MP back cam
    * HSPA bands 14.4/5.76 900/1900/2100
    * EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 bands
    * Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
    * 8GB and 16GB onboard memory
    * microSD expansion
    * 1500 mAh battery
    * 4.8 inches by 2.5 inches by 0.39-inch
    * weighs 3.9 ounces
    * runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box
As you probably noticed, there is no LTE mentioned. What does that mean? LTE is pretty common even on some of the lower-end handsets in the U.S. market. Considering this is a mid-range device, it is very possible that the phone isn’t coming to the North American market anytime soon.
The Galaxy S3 Mini has reasonably decent hardware, but it certainly doesn’t have the muscle power of its bigger brother. For those that were hoping for an exact match of the power found in the Galaxy S3, you might be a little disappointed. Keep in mind, this still blows away many of the entry-level Android devices in the 4-inch range and is a welcome addition for those that want a smaller phone that has dual-core power and NFC.

4 inch Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini

According to the latest news, Samsung will release the Galaxy S3 Mini on 11th, October. And the Germany vision will be available then.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini will adopt the Android 4.1 system, dual-core CPU, 5 mega-pixel camera, 4.0-inch capacitive Super AMOLED LCD display sreen, 800*480 pixel resolution. Its selling price will be 250 euros (almost 314.5 dollars).

 There is one visible activiting "S" watermark picture in the blue grounding invitation letter. In its previous method of work, Samsung would put the sign "s" as any kind of forms into the invitation letters before they released a new Galaxy S cellphone, therefore, some medias predict that they launch the lengendary "Galaxy S III Mini".

In the coming Samsung product launch conference, we will see what is this portable Galaxy S III mini, where to buy it, and when to buy it. It is still considerable which mobile phone carrier will sell this phone.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini: smartphone market

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, front/back
The mid-range smartphone market is a domain not often traversed by technology publications. We’re well aware that Nokia continues to produce cheap and cheerful phones that cater to the mass market, but here at ExtremeTech — or at Engadget or The Verge — the majority of column inches are dedicated to flagship superphones, such as the Galaxy S3 or iPhone 5. For the most part, this is because our readership is incredibly tech savvy — you’re the kind of people who will go out and buy the best that technology has to offer, and so that’s what we write about.
Sometimes, though, it’s good to broaden your horizons — to take a look at the wider market, to examine the broader trends. When you’re sitting at the top, blinded by your 4.8-inch Super Ultra ClearBlack OLED+3 display, it’s very easy to lose track of reality.
Which leads us neatly onto the scorn received by Samsung’s recently unveiled Galaxy S3 Mini. The S3 Mini is a perfect scale model of the S3, which Samsung released in June. Instead of a 4.8-inch screen, the S3 Mini has a 4-incher. Instead of a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 or 1.4GHz Tegra 3, the Mini is equipped with a 1GHz ST-Ericsson 8-series NovaThor SoC. Otherwise, except for a slightly smaller camera on the back (8MP vs. 5MP), the Galaxy S3 Mini is virtually identical to its full-size sibling. Perhaps more important than any hardware spec, the Galaxy S3 Mini even runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Galaxy S3 Mini (left) vs. full-size Galaxy S3 (right), size comparison
Galaxy S3 Mini (left) vs. full-size Galaxy S3 (right), size comparison
The component that most tech commentators seem to be upset by is the 4-inch screen, which is still Super AMOLED — but the resolution has dropped down from 1280×720 (306 PPI) to 800×480 (233 PPI). Objectively, this isn’t quite “Retina” quality, but it’s still very good.
Pundits have also been attacking the 1GHz dual-core processor — but if they took a moment to actually check some benchmarks from other phones that use ST-Ericsson’s NovaThor SoCs, they would see that its performance is actually rather good. We’re not talking about Exynos 5 or Snapdragon S4 performance, but it’s comparable to current-generation, Cortex-A9 designs such as Tegra 3 or OMAP4. The 8-series NovaThor SoCs are used in the Sony Xperia P/U/Sola/Go, Samsung Galaxy Beam/Ace 2, all of which have been well received and benchmark well on a range of tests.
Yes, the S3 Mini doesn’t have bleeding-edge specs — but it doesn’t need to. Android itself isn’t specifically tailored towards high-end devices, and neither are third-party apps. The real-world performance difference between the Galaxy S3 and the S3 Mini will be negligible, except perhaps for edge cases such as very heavy websites. In some cases, with the lower-resolution screen but comparable GPU, the S3 Mini might actually manage higher frame rates than its bigger brother. In 99% of cases, a mid-range PC serves a user just fine — and smartphones are no different.

Filling out

The Galaxy S3 Mini is undoubtedly an attempt to cash in on those who see the Galaxy S3 as too large or too expensive. The Galaxy S3 is one of the largest phones on the market, and there are plenty of people out there who would prefer a smaller bulge in their pocket, or a phone that can more easily be used with a single hand. While the Galaxy S3 costs around $600/£400 off-contract, the S3 Mini is expected to cost around $400/£250, right in the mid-range sweet spot.
In the mid-range market, the S3 Mini will have to compete with the likes of the HTC One S , LG Lucid, Sony Xperia P, and a hoard of other Samsung phones — but by riding the coattails of Samsung’s very popular S3 brand, it should have a significant advantage. You can just see it now: Your mom asks the sales rep about the S3, asks if they have anything cheaper/lighter/smaller, and walks away with an S3 Mini.
There is a risk of brand dilution, but I don’t think Samsung really cares. We are talking about the company who has strapped the “Galaxy” moniker on no less than 45 smartphones since 2009, and more than a dozen tablets/phablets/peripherals. Galaxy means a different thing to different people: To high-end users like us, it’s a performance marque — to low- and mid-range mom and pop consumers, it’s just a brand of attractive phones.
But getting back to the point: Yes, the Galaxy S3 Mini has lower specs than the full-bodied S3, but to the average consumer that doesn’t matter. The screen will still look beautiful in a showroom setting, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will make the phone feel slicker than almost anything else on offer. It’s also worth pointing out that the Galaxy S3 Mini will be roughly the same size and price as the iPhone 4S — and it wouldn’t surprise me if Samsung has seen how many last-generation iPhones Apple continues to sell, and has decided it wants a piece of that pie.
It’s a bitter pill to swallow as an early adopting power user, but the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 superphones won’t rule the market for much longer. Smartphones are still a relatively new and exciting thing, but they are already beginning the slow march towards commoditization. There will always be a market for those who want the latest and greatest and most expensive smartphone — just like with cars or TVs or clothes — but ultimately, just like in every other industry, the bulk of the industry will eventually be ruled by low- and mid-range products. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Galaxy S3 Mini goes on to become one of the most popular phones ever made.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini

Are you having second thoughts of getting a huge phone? Or are you thinking of getting yourself a new smartphone? Well, Samsung has finally heard your prayers. Bringing to us the new Samsung Galaxy S3 MINI.

Yes, you read it right. It is the MINI version of one of the highly popular smartphones in the market, the Samsung Galaxy S3. In terms of looks, it is the exact replica of its brother only compact and can easily be held with ease for those of you who have small hands just like me. This is the perfect smartphone to own.

Don't worry. The S3 Mini has the ideal size for a phone. In terms of screen dimension, it doesn't have a small screen like that of the Samsung Galaxy Ace. It owns a screen much like the one from Samsung Galaxy S2 only a tiny bit smaller in screen but it owns a slightly bigger casing from that of the S2.

In terms of specs, of course, being a smaller phone Samsung has to cut off some features to differentiate it from its brother, the S3. Be that as it may, the phone is still a remarkable phone.

Just for comparison sake, here are some images of the S3 beside the new S3 Mini. Currently, the S3 Mini is available in both Pebble Blue and Marble White.

On the otherhand, GSMArena can give you a side to side comparison of the S3 Mini versus the most sought out Android phone from last year, the Samsung Galaxy S2, just to give you an idea of the specs and what to expect from this highly anticipated phone. Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini VS Samsung Galaxy S2
As you can see, S2 has the upperhand in terms of processor's speed, having a Super Amoled Plus display with Cornilla Glass and a 8MP camera as compared to S3 Mini's Super Amoled display with only a 5MP camera.
But, we still cannot overlook the fact that the S3 Mini is being powered by latest Android technology, Android 4.1 Jellybean plus, it gives you that brand new look for a phone. Although, for S2 owners, this isn't the end of the line. Samsung already confirmed that S2 will be receiving the 4.1 Jellybean update by the end of November or beginning December. So, hang in there. It's just a couple of nights away and you can experience the new Jellybean OS.
I'm not so sure if this is a good move from Samsung being the fact that S4 is expected to release by February next year but, it still feels good to have that freedom with so many options laid out for you.
After all that is said and done the final question arises, when will the S3 Mini becomes available? According to Samsung, the phone will hit the market by November 2012 but, since December is almost around the corner, we could expect the phone to close the end of the year or it could be opening up a new year if the smartphone won't be hitting your shores by the end of December.
As for the price, the phone is expected to be around $500. So, which is it gonna be? The S3 or the S3 Mini? Whatever it is, Android is definitely getting hotter and hotter as time passes. That being said, this only means that we can expect far more greater things from its developers in the future.

The Gadget Is Made of Junk
